May 18, 2021, right after his 2020 State of the University Address (SUnA), CSU President, Dr. Anthony M. Penaso was bestowed with the First HART Award by the Heirs of the former Assemblyman Antonio Rosales Tupaz who was responsible for the conversion of the then Northern Mindanao Agricultural College (NORMINAC) to the then Northern Mindanao Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST).

Splendid in his champagne barong, CSU President Anthony M. Penaso delivered his 2020 State of the University Address (SUna) at a calculated distance from a controlled small crowd of key officials, select stakeholders and development partners at the Pavillion, Watergate Hotel on May 18, 2021. Everyone were donned in Filipiniana attire with matching face masks, face shields, and physically distanced.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. Dela Pena lauded a team of CSU researchers led by Dr. Tomas M. Austral, Jr. for the development of Caraga black native chicken through breeding and selection as potential niche product of Caraga region.

Some Caraga State University faculty and students attended an Online Study in Taiwan Series and Demonstration of Mandarin Teaching in partnership with the National Quemoy University (NQU) and Taiwan Education Center (TEC).

Caraga State University’s Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) received a Platinum Recognition Award, the highest award accorded by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for the 2020 top and high-performing ITSOs in the country. It was given during the recent KaIPhan, a unique online meeting organized by IPOPHL.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Caraga region, headed by its OIC Office of the Regional Director, Assistant Regional Director for Field Operations Division Ricardo N. Varela with Engr. Noel Ajoc Technical Support Services Division Chief, conducted an orientation on April 14, 2021 for the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) grantees of Coursera scholarships, for their project, “Readiness of MSMEs for Industry 4.0”.

An interdisciplinary team of researchers from CSU and MGB working on sustainability science bagged the 1st place in the PH-UKRI Mineral Resources Management Call for Proposal. Of the 18 proposals submitted nationwide, the proposal entitled “Developing a Sustainable pathway for the Philippine Nickel sector or SusNi” submitted by the team emerged No. 1 among the 5 proposals that got funded.
