The Caraga State University is an academic institution tasked by the government to provide quality service in professional and technological training particularly in the northeastern Mindanao area, the Caraga Region. As a state institution, its mandate is to support socio-economic development in its service area through the basic functions of instructions, research, extension and production. Research provides the foundation for the other three functions, hence, a sound Research and Development (R&D) program should be formulated and implemented to answer the technological needs and problems of the people in its service area.
Guided by its Vision, Mission, Goal and Objectives, CSU crafted its Five-Year Research and Development Agenda. The Agenda shall serve as the detailed road map towards achieving the common goal of reducing poverty through proper education and economic development efforts while sustaining the natural resources for the future generations. In adherence to the Caraga Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2004-2010 toward seeing the region equitably wealthy, the CSU R&D Agenda likewise reflects the basic sources of livelihood for Caraga populace; agriculture, forestry, fishery and mining, and the need for higher level of educational capacities. The basic livelihood sources of Caraga populations and the status of functional literacy in the region serve as the guide for the Institute's efforts to generate information, technologies and knowledge in support to the region's quest to be free from poverty and ignorance.
