JUSTIFICATION
This request for conferment of an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities (H.D.) to Congressman Jose “Joboy” S. Aquino II, Representative 14th Congress, First District, Agusan del Norte is hereby submitted on the strength of the following:
The award is being given to Hon. Aquino as a way of honoring him for rendering outstanding services to the University through his selfless contribution in terms of the much needed financial support and being an exemplar of an honest and dedicated public servant. His zealousness is exemplified by the numerous projects now enjoyed not only by the students and other stakeholders of the University but also by all the residents of Butuan City. His involvement in various programs and projects promoting the conservation of natural resources in the Region has prepared the Caraga Region for climate change adaptation, thereby strengthening the delivery of the University’s programs in Environment, Forestry and Agriculture. He champions the advancement of Eco-Tourism in support of the Caraga Region’s banner program on Eco-Tourism development. In the field of Education, he expanded opportunities for the youth to be better equipped to meet global challenges.
In the Caraga State University’s first Commencement Exercises, he shall be the Commencement Speaker being the principal author of House Bill 5110, otherwise known as “AN ACT ESTABLISHING THE CARAGA STATE UNIVERSITY IN THE CARAGA REGION BY INTEGRATING THE NORTHERN MINDANAO STATE INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NORMISIST) IN AMPAYON, BUTUAN CITY AND THE NORTHERN MINDANAO COLLEGE OF ARTS, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NMCAST) IN CABADBARAN, AGUSAN DEL NORTE AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR”, now Republic Act 9854 (RA 9854).
