CSU Forestry Grads Shine in 2010 Licensure Examination

Caraga State University made it again!!!
Eight BS Forestry graduates unfurled and made the Caraga State University (CSU) banner fly high by garnering the No. 3 spot in the best performing schools offering BS Forestry in the Philippines in July 2010 Foresters’ Licensure Examination.

CSU obtained 67% passing percentage from its 8 out 12 first-time takers, making it a close 3rd to Central Mindanao University (CMU) among schools with 10 and above number of takers.  This puts Caraga State University in the Philippine Map of higher learning in the field of Forestry.

The new Licensed Foresters are:
  1. Forester Wilson Canales
  2. Forester Vincent Ferolin
  3. Forester Mylen Lazarte
  4. Forester Jolliebee Lacorte
  5. Forester Romnick Germino
  6. Forester Richie Gomez
  7. Forester Jonas Quindo
  8. Forester Andrey Serrano

The Caraga State University started offering BS Forestry in 2003 in support to the region’s reputation as the ‘Timber Corridor of the Philippines’. The BSF program has, so far, produced 3 batches of graduates. The first and second batches of graduates had taken and successfully hurdled the 4-day grind in the Forestry Licensure Examination. In 2007 and 2009, the Caraga State University (NORMISIST) achieved 100% passing for its 2 and 3 takers, respectively. This year, CSU is making a name in the field of Forestry by ranking 3rd, some steps behind Central Mindanao University (CMU) and the University of the Philippines (UP).

Report from Gerardo O. Kitche, Ph.D. of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Sciences (CASNR).
