CSU celebrates founding anniversary

ICT Center - The Caraga State University (CSU) had its thanksgiving mass and anniversary program at the Sanchez Gymnasium last December 16, 2010 to commemorate the establishment of the university.

CSU celebrated its first anniversary with a number of activities as part of the 1st Caraga State University Charter Week. This year, the theme was “One CSU, One Team for Global Recognition…One Shared Dream for a Better Tomorrow.”

Highlighted during the anniversary program was the President’s Report to the University by Dr. Joanna B. Cuenca, CEO III, and the 1st President of the Caraga State University. The report was a record of the university’s achievements made since Northern Mindanao State Institute of Science and Technology (NORMISIST) became Caraga State University.

Some of the achievements mentioned by the president were the outstanding performances of the CSU graduates during the Licensure Examinations. The CSU had gone global through its partnership with National Pingtung University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore and Oklahoma State University in USA. The president also mentioned the development of the physical facilities in the university such as the new CSU gate, the Robotics and Metrology Laboratories, with Hitachi Global Storage Technologies providing high-end laboratory equipment, the campus landmarks featuring Gov. Harrison and Congresswoman Ochoa, and the continuing construction of the Science and Technology Building.

Present during the Anniversary program was Mr. Paquito Ato, the representative of Cong. Jose “Joboy” Aquino. Vice Mayor Lawrence Lemuel H. Fortun was also there on behalf of Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante Jr. The congressman’s message to the university gave emphasis on the importance of education. According to Congressman Aquino, as read by Mr Ato, “… with education, one can face the challenges of life.” Therefore, Caraga State University has a big role in “... advancing the value of people through education.”

Also highlighted during the program was the awarding of certificates, plaques and recognition to outstanding employees and units of the Caraga State University Main and CSU – Cabadbaran Campus.
