CSU’s PIAEA Director tops E-Teacher Scholarship

Ms. Sonia Rosales-Low, a faculty member of College of Arts and Sciences and CSU’s Director for Public Information, Alumni and External Affairs completed the E-Teacher Scholarship with a passing grade of 99.6%. She received an award along with the other three top scholars at the US Embassy in Manila, Philippines on May 08, 2013.
The E-Teacher Scholarship is offered by Oregon University, American English Institute, Linguistics Department, and funded by the US government. Selection is highly competitive and nomination is done by the US embassy’s Cultural and Public Affairs office.

Launching of CGB-funded CarSU Projects: Success

The College of Engineering and Information Technology of Caraga State University (CEIT-CSU) successfully launched their partnership project with the City Government of Butuan (CGB): Comprehensive Land Information Management System using GIS dubbed as CLAIMS-GIS and FARM which stands for Financial Administration and Resource Management System. The event was held at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City last April 30, 2013, and was attended by key officials from CSU and CGB, one hundred forty-four (144) Barangay Council officials from fifty-six (56) barangays, one hundred thirty (130) educators from DepEd, Butuan City Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mr. Omar Joseph Andaya and sixty six (66) CLAIMS-GIS personnel.

Caraga State University Cabadbaran Campus proved its competence by producing its first batch of graduates of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a new Electrical engineers. Two (2) takers passed the last September 2012 Electrical Engineer's Licensure Examination held last September 21-22, 2012 in the cities of Cebu, Manila, Baguio, and Davao City. CSUCC garnered 100% passing marked against national passing rate of 53.24%.

Tambura, BS Biology graduates of Caraga State University-Main were awarded second prize, Best Undergraduate Paper (Oral) presentation (out of 12 presenters – UST, UP-Diliman, USM, WPU, MSU-IIT etc.) and third best undergraduate poster presentation (out of 19 presenters – CMU, SLU, MSU-IIT, WPU, USM etc.) respectively during the 22nd Philippine Biodiversity Symposium and Annual Meeting of WCSP 2013 on April 16-19, 2013 at Central Mindanao University, Musuan, Bukidnon. The Philippine youth ambassadors in the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) 2012 made a historic first in the 39-year old program by inspiring the accomplishment of a project onboard Japanese liner Fuji Maru, which shall benefit the Yellow Boat Foundation in the country.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cluster, one of the eight discussion groups onboard, introduced a project, ‘Change’ for Change, which was supported by the participating youths (PYs) of the 39th SSEAYP. Caraga State University held its 93rd Commemoration of Proclamation No. 4 as signed by Governor General Francis Burton Harrison last February 14, 2013. A wreath laying ceremony, spearheaded by CarSU President Joanna B. Cuenca took place at Gov. Harrison’s cenotaph to honor the American governor to the Philippines who declared the reservation of a 232-hectare virgin forest land in Barrio Ampayon, in the municipality of Butuan, Agusan del Norte as a land area for a school.
