CSU Faculty and Studies Learn How to Ideate and Pitch from iDEYABREW

Faculty and students learn together how to ideate and pitch during the workshop dubbed as ‘iDEYABREW’ on August 19, 2016 at the Technovation Center, Villares Hall, CSU, Butuan City. The event was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension of the Caraga State University and the Center for Innovation and Technopreneurship of MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology. Pres. Anthony M. Penaso graced the event and emphasized in his opening message the significance of innovation particularly from the academe to provide solutions to issues confronting humanity. He also shared his own experience as a student of technopreneurship under the mentorship of Dado Banatao’s group at Idea-PhilDev. Convinced that innovation is the way forward for the country to keep pace with other countries in the ASEAN region, the President relayed his plan to integrate entrepreneurship in the curriculum of the various programs offered at CSU.
Mr. Marlo Novino and Mr. Dave del Rosario from MSU-IIT Center for Innovation and Technopreneurship gave inputs during the workshop and facilitated the group interactions and pitching in. Around 100 participants have fun while trying their best to put their ideas into something that is innovative and can provide solutions to certain problems of society. The participants from the various colleges vied in pitching in their ideas after the designing workshop. The winners received bags of goodies as token for their efforts and in appreciation of their wonderful ideas. In closing, Dr. Rowena P. Varela, VP for Research and Extension, thanked the resource persons for the amazing workshops that made everyone smile even with the pressure of coming up with ideas that would sell. She likewise thanked the local committee headed by Dr. Rey Y. Capangpangan for coordinating the event and all the participants for their interest and cooperation. Seeing the growing interest among the participants, she vowed to have more activities of this kind in the University.
