The Center for Research in Environmental Management and Eco-Governance (CRÈME) and the Graduate School’s Master’s in Environmental Management faculty and students conducted a training-workshop on Comprehensive Development Planning. The aim was to capacitate and upscale the MEM / MSESM students from the Local Government Units, National Government Agencies, Non-Government Organizations, and Private Companies, specifically from the large-scale mining companies of the region.

The 7-day Comprehensive Development Planning training course was conducted from May 30 to June 5, 2022, using a blended approach in virtual platform lectures and a face-to-face workshop.

Dr. Rowena P. Varela, the Vice President for Research Development Innovation and Extension of the University gave the opening message. Dr. Varela was also one of the resource speakers of the training course. Another resource person was a graduate of BS in Environmental Management of CSU and currently one of the technical staff of the Municipal Planning and Development Office of LGU San Francisco, Ms. Ma. Christine N. Lagapa.  Ms. Lagapa talked on the Ecological Profile of LGU San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. The fifteen (15) sessions training course covered various topics on the processes of CDP formulation conducted through online lectures by seven (7) resource persons.

The last two workshops were held face-to-face at the MEM multi-function room, CSU last June 4-5, 2022. The highlight of the workshop was the presentation of the various outputs of the participants on Situational Analysis using Problem Solution Matrix, Vision Reality Gap Analysis, Ranking of Projects Using the Goal-Achievement Matrix (GAM), and Project Brief. The participants were given certificates of completion on CDP training at the end of the workshops. JRA/pico
