CSU launches Advocacy Week to talk about critical societal issues, champion SDGs

TODAY, February 24 — The Golden Paddlers reaffirm the university’s commitment to nurturing responsible problem-solvers and value creators through the inauguration of Advocacy Week.

Spearheaded by the University Student Government (USG) of the Main Campus, the five-day event features Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-aligned seminars on key social issues: Animal Welfare, HIV Awareness, Gender and Development/Violence Against Women and Children, Mental Health Awareness, and Environmental Protection and Conservation. These discussions seek to empower the academic community with current knowledge and trends regarding the issues, thus encouraging proactive engagement both within and beyond the university corners.

During the opening parade, Dr. Rissa L. Mercado, VP for Student Affairs and Auxiliary Services, encouraged participants to leverage the insights gained during the event to drive tangible improvements within their respective fields.

The university is committed to the sustained implementation of this initiative, fostering in students a profound understanding of societal challenges and equipping them with the capacity to enact impactful change, both as Golden Paddlers and engaged citizens of the Caraga region.
