A move towards further enhancing education quality and aligning academic offerings to international standards occurred from March 5-7, 2025, as faculty from both campuses of Caraga State University (CSU) underwent a workshop on Institutionalizing Outcomes-Based Education (OBE).

Led by the Office of Curriculum and Instruction Development (OCID), the workshop emphasized key aspects of OBE, including a shift from teaching to learning to ensure graduates possess essential knowledge and skills to excel in the 21st century.

The workshop tackled curriculum mapping, learning outcome formulation, assessment strategies, and continuous quality improvement, considering the varying familiarity with OBE among faculty members. It also covered interdisciplinary integration and sharing of best practices.

Resource Person Richard R. Jugar, PhD, is a renowned expert in Outcomes-Based Education with extensive experience in education, curriculum development, and assessment. He is a Full Professor at the University of San Carlos, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Strategic Consultant for Human Capital Development at the Brigada Group. He facilitated workshops related to OBE fundamentals at institutional, program, and course levels, covering topics such as defining institutional identity, graduate attributes, program educational objectives, curriculum mapping, and authentic assessment methods.

This initiative demonstrates how the university strengthens its commitment to educational excellence and ensures its graduates are well-prepared for future challenges. This focus on outcomes-based education reinforces the university's dedication to continuous improvement and alignment with institutional targets, responsive to Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 - Quality Education. | via SMA/OSFFT,PICO
