Two (2) teams of engineering students from Caraga State University clinched 2nd and 3rd places in the Smart Builders Pitching Competition organized by the City Government of Butuan City on March 5, 2025, at SM Butuan. 

The competition invited architecture and civil engineering students to share innovative approaches to sustainable infrastructure, integrating smart technology, eco-friendly materials, and efficient space utilization. Industry experts evaluated the concepts relative to innovation, sustainability, and functionality.

CSU’s winning projects were the Mountain View (Sports Center) by Traingula Plans of the Department of Civil Engineering and (2) Mind Vault (Learning Center) by EcoPioneers Build of the College of Engineering and Geosciences (CEGS). 

The 22 participating students included: Crissa Faith B. Alburo, Ryan Sean V. Arquita, Airah Mae D. Amboy, Kishi Daniel T. Badayos, Jade Andrei Marie L. Daminar, Anton Lawrence P. Sabang, John, Kenneth T. Caduyag, Shaina C. Tolentino, Liam Matthew M. Torralba, Ateena Nichol S. Dalumpines, Kristel Mariz C. Agad, Rhea Mea S. Piape, April Joy P. Matin-ao, Rheamae Galia, Shellou Mea De Asis, Daren Joy Hinlo, Reynald Errol Fiel L. Bantono, Girvee D. Cañedo, Joter Genesis R. Palad, Rea Andrea Villamor, Michelle O. Espineli, Andrie Buico. They were coached by Engr. Elpedio Corbeta Jr., CE Program Head Engr. Marc Lin Abonales and CEGS Dean Engr. Anamarie Sajonia. 

This achievement highlights the students' potential to contribute to the future of sustainable urban development by conceptualizing and presenting forward-thinking infrastructure projects and integrating insights they gained from their technopreneurship courses, exemplifying the university’s commitment to producing future-ready engineers and architects. | via Jhong Corbeta, PICO
