Productive. Strong. Impactful.

These best describe the current research ecosystem at the university, as it reached 300 Scopus-indexed publications in one year, the first time it has hit such a record.

The news, relayed by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, Innovation, and Extension (OVPRDIE), reflects the university’s sustained commitment to research excellence, driven by strategic initiatives, focused leadership, and continuous investments in research, development, innovation, and extension. The university reached a five-year surge in globally indexed research, growing from 81 Scopus-indexed publications in 2021 to over 300 in the last year, with more papers pending indexing. This growth positions the university as a thriving research hub, boosting its visibility.

Additionally, the strong research performance helps the university meet the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) targets and other institutional performance indicators tied to incentives, such as the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB). For faculty members, the expanding publication ecosystem enhances opportunities for career progression under the JC3 promotional and ranking systems. Further, this surge highlights increased student engagement in the research culture.

All these efforts are credited to the OVPRDIE and the top management, who strategically strengthened the research landscape and provisions. Specifically, the office shares this milestone with every researcher, whether from the academic or administrative pillars, who has contributed to the numbers through impactful studies that advance the services to the community and the broader knowledge domains.

Last year, these contributions proved foundational and strengthened the university’s position in its first-ever inclusion in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and the QS Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars World University Rankings.

Building on this momentum, CSU aims to further increase high-impact research outputs, deepen international collaborations, and translate innovations that contribute to both regional and national development.
