This year’s Forestry Days of the College of Forestry and Environmental Science (CoFES) marked a series of academic and technical competitions through its ForesTREElympics, complemented by the tree-hugging campaign aligned with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)’s advocacy.

Organized by the College of Forestry and Environmental Science Local Student Government (CoFESLSG) in partnership with the Forestry Students’ Guild (FSG), Junior Foresters Association of the Philippines – CSU Chapter (JFAP-CSU), and Forestry Ecological Society – CSU Chapter (FES-CSU), the three-day event is designed to strengthen student engagement through a balanced combination of academic competitions, technical challenges, traditional games, and recognition ceremonies.

The college’s ForesTREElympics, which commenced on February 11, featured discipline-based academic and technical competitions, including leaf identification, wood identification, seed identification, forest mensuration, and forest surveying, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to timed and performance-based assessments. A Quiz Bowl Competition and Forestry Night on February 13 will recognize outstanding performers and formally send off delegates to the National Forestry Olympiad next week.

This celebration highlights the university’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
