As a unique and purpose-driven year-end assessment activity, the Administrative Services Division launched its sustainability initiative by planting 500 assorted tree seedlings across the university grounds today, December 18.

The tree-planting activity integrated environmental stewardship into the Division’s Support Functions, with carbon footprint reduction identified as a measurable and recurring commitment. The initiative is intended to be conducted annually and embedded in their Individual Performance Commitment and Reviews (IPCRs) and Division Performance Commitment and Reviews (DPCRs).

A total of 44 personnel participated in the activity, led by Dr. Armie Leila M. Mordeno, Division Chief of Administrative Services, along with directors and unit heads from the Division. Professor Joel Mercado of the College of Forestry and Environmental Sciences (CoFES) was also present to demonstrate the proper planting of said seeds. The seedlings were donated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through Regional Director Maritess M. Ocampo.

This redefinition of year-end assessment activities incorporates action-oriented efforts that directly support environmental protection, thereby achieving Sustainable Development Goals 13 (Climate Action) and 15 (Life on Land). As a state university leading in forestry and agriculture, the division’s move also demonstrates the collaboration of the administrative pillars in advancing the university’s overarching goals towards environmental responsibility.
