The College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) led a seminar-workshop on practical strategies for high-impact journal publication and journal creation on August 19-20, 2025, enhancing faculty members’ skills in producing top-tier research and developing international academic platforms.

CCIS Dean Jaymer Jayoma, DIT, opened the workshop, highlighting the importance of upskilling faculty members: “The college believes that we should empower everyone because an organization levels up with the skills of its people. Hence, this workshop is to make high-impact [research] publications. I hope that you will continue your research [undertakings], and that it will get better.”

The workshop covered key strategies for academic publishing and journal creation, setting up editorial teams, and managing journals, among other topics. Dr. Don Anton R. Balida, Founding Chairman of Virtual Realia Organization (VRO), served as the resource speaker.

This seminar workshop was also valuable for early-career researchers, faculty members, and graduate students aiming to elevate their research visibility and impact on the global academic stage.

Partnership with Virtual Realia Organization

On August 20, Caraga State University, through the CCIS, also formalized its partnership with VRO to strengthen research, publication, digital learning resources, and global academic collaboration. Both institutions will collaborate for the professional development of faculty members and networking opportunities.

In February this year, CarSU and VRO also entered into an understanding for exchange of academic materials and information in areas of mutual interest and co-host events focused on education, innovation, and technopreneurship

The activities provide practical insights and steps to align CarSU’s research undertakings with global standards, contributing to the SDGs No. 4 (Quality Education) and No. 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
