Caraga State University is among the awardees of the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) Internationalization Champions of Nation-building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2025, held on December 10, 2025, at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City.
University President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, received the award for the university’s placement in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings and Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. In November, CSU is ranked within the 1401-1500 bracket in Asia and 223rd in South-Eastern Asia for the QS World University Rankings – Asia. Prior to this recognition, CSU was also ranked within the 601-800 global bracket and 3rd in the Philippines in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings in June. Among SUCs in the country, CSU’s contributions to the SDGs were most notable in Goal No. 1 (No Poverty) ranking 1st, Goal No. 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) at 5th, Goal No. 4 (Quality Education) at 3rd, Goal No. 5 (Gender Equality) at 6th, Goal No. 17 (Partnership for the Goals) at 3rd.
This year’s conferment holds greater significance for the university, as it achieved these placements despite being a relatively new entrant. With this milestone, CSU is further motivated to intensify its efforts across five pillars, not only to sustain its inclusion but also to enhance its standing in the coming years and compete in other categories evaluated by the same global ranking body.
