With great consideration for the Muslim community on campus, CSU hosted “Understanding the Hijab: Identity, Choice, and Respect” on February 11, 2026, to celebrate World Hijab Day. This initiative is led by the Caraga Muslim Students Association (CaMSA) in collaboration with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office and in partnership with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) – Caraga Region.

The activity aimed to promote awareness and a deeper understanding of the hijab as a symbol of identity, faith, and personal choice. Through meaningful discussions and experiential learning, participants were encouraged to reflect on the importance of gender sensitivity, cultural appreciation, and respect for religious diversity.

The program was graced by Dr. Michelle V. Japitana, Vice President for Executive Operations, who delivered the opening message, emphasizing the University’s commitment to inclusivity and respect for all cultures and beliefs. Also present were Mr. Abdulhakim Khalid, Chief of the Settlement Division, and Ms. Rohania Ambor-Ala, Provincial Head of the NCMF Office in Tandag, who shared valuable insights on Muslim identity and community perspectives.

The event concluded with a message from Ms. Jenelin S. Enero, encouraging the CSU community to continue fostering understanding and acceptance. The activity was also attended by GAD Director, Ms. Marjorie L. Escartin, in support of gender-responsive and inclusive initiatives.

This meaningful celebration was initiated by CaMSA, under the leadership of its President, Ms. Johara Mona, reflecting the organization’s dedication to promoting awareness, respect, and unity within the university community.
