
Caraga State University (CSU) proudly introduces its three (3) new Research and Development and Innovation (RDI) Centers, following the approval from its Board of Regents on August 7, 2025.
The following new centers in Butuan (1) and Cabadbaran (2) campuses are a testament to the university’s commitment to promoting sustainable regional development through advanced research, collaboration with industry, and community-oriented initiatives.
- Center for Industrial Technology for Educational Development (CITED) – Cabadbaran Campus. Focuses on promoting industrial technology innovation and fostering partnerships with local industries to enhance applied research and develop a skilled workforce with Marisol Jane Beray as Center Chief.
- Framework for the Regional Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (FRIED) Hub – Cabadbaran Campus. Specializes in food innovation and entrepreneurship, aiming to advance the regional food industry through the development of new technologies. Ms. Mae Karren L. Correos is its Center Chief.
- Center for Health Research and Innovations in Medicine and Bioengineering (CHIME) – Butuan Campus. Operating under CSU School of Medicine, CHIME concentrates on medical technology and bioengineering research to address healthcare challenges in the Caraga region and beyond led by Center Chief Dr. Jesson V. Butcon.
As CSU continues to strengthen its research infrastructure and promote collaboration among academia, industry, and communities, the establishment of the centers will accelerate CarSU’s efforts to integrate multidisciplinary innovation with regional needs, thereby supporting sustainable socio-economic growth.
