CSU receives recognition from DICT for advancing ICT literacy in the region

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) honors the university for its key role in advancing the department’s goals by serving as a leading institution for ICT education, research, and development in the region.
The Plaque of Recognition was given today, November 18, 2025, as part of their ILCDB Partner Summit at the LMX Convention Center. Engr. Lovely Mae Dagsa-Balamad and Engr. Eric L. Florida of the College of Engineering and Geosciences received the award on behalf of CSU.
As part of its core mandate, the university has consistently sought to bridge the digital divide and deliver technological breakthroughs that benefit both the region and its community. One of the university’s leading academic units is the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS), which offers courses designed to develop highly skilled ICT professionals capable of driving innovation and providing solutions to emerging digital challenges. This college offers Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information System (BSIS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), and Doctor of Information Technology (DIT).
The university has also formed several collaborations with DICT. In June 2025, CSU established its Program Advisory Board (PAB), which includes the DICT-Caraga Regional Director. It ensures that CSU’s academic programs remain aligned with government ICT priorities, including those of DICT.
Other university initiatives include a partnership with Huawei Philippines for the creation of the ICT Academy, which aims to produce more ICT-skilled graduates.
