The university celebrates International Men’s Day today, November 19, by recognizing men’s health, emotional well-being, and the need for supportive spaces where they can openly discuss their challenges.
CSU’s Gender and Development (GAD) Office and its Protection Against Discrimination and Inequality (PADI) Organization hosted this full-day learning forum with select participants from the academic, administrative, and student pillars.
The activity opened with messages of support from CSU President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, and Ms. Stephanie Mae B. Salcedo-Albores, Chief of the Division of Strategic Foresight and Management. Both emphasized the value of inclusive dialogue in addressing the unique challenges men face. GAD Director Ms. Marjorie L. Escartin also coined the need to create spaces where men’s concerns are recognized and addressed.

Morning sessions featured Mr. Florence Jones Noelle R. Acosta, who discussed STD Awareness and the Moral Responsibilities of Men, and Mr. Edson B. Alijo of CHR, who talked about responsible manhood. Participants also viewed a special video presentation titled “Being a Man: Reflections and Realities”. In the afternoon, the discussions continued with Dr. Jeswon M. Duque’s session on Reproductive Health for Men, followed by Ms. Kristalyca B. Gamallo’s talk on Men’s Mental Health and Emotional Resilience. The Open Forum then provided participants with opportunities to share their insights and experiences.
Through this activity, GAD aims to cultivate a more inclusive and gender-sensitive university community, one that promotes gender equity and holistic development.
