Three Golden Padders and two faculty coaches under the College of Engineering and Geosciences – Department of Electronics Engineering earned the 2nd Runner Up award for its tech-based farming support system at the IECEP National Students’ Summit 2025.
Ralph Angelo C. Gonzaga, Kristel Jane T. Donan, and Jonel P. Perlado presented their study named AGAPAY: Advancing Grower Assistance and Productivity through IoT-Powered Crop Monitoring with Real-Time Forecasting and Leaf Disease Detection. Joining them are their faculty coaches, Engr. Ronieto N. Mendoza and Engr. Re-Ann Cristine O. Calimpusan.
The study aims to give farmers real-time access to field data and AI-based forecasts to guide proper timing for irrigation, pesticide, and fertilizer use. It also helps detect dominant crop diseases early and offers advice on treatment, causes, and prevention to reduce costly yield losses.
For the celebration of its 75 years, the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) gathered students for a series of activities at the Marikina Convention Center, Marikina City from October 13-17, 2025. Aside from the awardees and coaches, 9 other students joined the summit and participated in other competitions, such as the Elite Electronics, Interscholastic Quiz Show, Circuit Crunch, and Datathon Challenge.

Congratulations, Golden Paddlers and faculty coaches. Bugsay!
