Caraga State University President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil delivered his 1st State of the University Address (SUnA) today, September 30, highlighting people and learning upgrades, ideas turned into values, and partnerships and solutions for real problems across both Butuan and Cabadbaran campuses.

Among the accomplishments he featured in the first half of his term were the hiring of 153 new instructors, raising the MS and PhD-holder workforce to 70%, and supporting more faculty members in pursuing doctoral programs. In extension, the university has trained 10,251 individuals from 2023 to 2025.

Dr. Daguil also recounted CSU’s remarkable leaps in national and international rankings—1st in Butuan according to EduRank, top 1 in the Philippines for SDG No. 1 per THE Impact Ranking, and 42nd in Webometrics.

CSU likewise expanded its program offerings, most notably the Doctor of Medicine this year, and secured more research grants and funding to strengthen research, development, innovation, and extension initiatives that address regional and global needs.

University stakeholders and representatives from partner agencies and fellow State Universities and Colleges attended the SUnA, affirming their role in helping propel CSU closer to its LIKHA agenda.

Dr. Daguil closed with a commitment to intensify efforts toward fulfilling the rest of his vision for CSU, with emphasis on digitization and integration of data on student, human resource, finance, quality assurance and international recognition and accreditation. “Let us keep LIKHA as our compass – creating new value, meaningful solutions, and responsible stewards and leaders. I did not promise calm waters. I promised movement toward our shared direction, and joy in paddling.”
