Quality Education

TODAY, July 23 – An opening ceremony was held to welcome the online accreditors from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP, Inc.) and to commence the accreditation of the following programs: BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BS in Electronics Engineering, BS in Forestry, BS in Information Systems, MS in Mathematics, BS in Applied Mathematics, and BS in Agroforestry.

The accreditation team is led by Dr. Elsie M. Pacho, AACCUP Coordinator II and former Vice President for Academic and International Affairs at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU). She has served as an accreditor since 2004.

All the mentioned programs, except for BS in Agroforestry, are undergoing their fourth accreditation visit. The latter is currently on its third visit. AACCUP, Inc. is an accrediting agency for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). Part of its work is to evaluate the quality and credibility of the SUCs’ academic courses against national and international standards.

At the end of each evaluation cycle, AACCUP, Inc. grants accreditation levels from I to IV, with Level IV being the highest, signifying international competitiveness and academic excellence. As of this writing, the university has three Level IV-accredited programs, namely: Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering, Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science, and Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics.

The three-day accreditation visit will conclude with an exit conference on July 25, where the accreditors will present their findings and recommendations for all assessed areas. A separate official announcement will be made by AACCUP, Inc. to present the final results of the evaluation.

This accreditation initiative is steered by the Office of Planning and Quality Management Services under the Division for Strategic Foresight and Management, on behalf of the university. This addresses SDG 4: Quality Education.
