Dr. Jesson Butcon, Associate Professor of the university’s School of Medicine, was awarded the Best Re-Entry Action Plan (REAP) on November 18, 2025, by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization-Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture’s (SEAMEO-SEARCA) 7th Leadership Development Program held in Bogor, Indonesia.
He was selected by the organization to participate in its blended learning course, which included online sessions and onsite training, from September 16 to November 18, 2025, with the grant. Co-organized by The HEAD Foundation (Singapore) and IPB University (Indonesia), the program featured five asynchronous online sessions, a three-day onsite training, and a REAP coaching activity for implementation.
His re-entry action plan, “One Nation, One Health: Synchronizing Solutions and Advancing One Health through Innovation and Partnerships,” is poised to scale collaborative and systems-based solutions for health. This initiative advances the One Health flagship program of the newly established Center for Health Research and Innovation in Medicine and Bioengineering (CHIME), where he serves as Chief, further positioning the School of Medicine as a regional partner in interdisciplinary health innovation.
Dr. Butcon is part of the thirty participants from the six Southeast Asian countries that were granted participation. The program aims to strengthen the leadership capacity of HEI leaders from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, and help them build resilient, high-performing universities.
Congratulations, Dr. Butcon. Bugsay!
