Caraga State University School of Medicine launched the University-Wide Health and Wellness Fair today, July 23, at the HERO Learning Commons, offering health lectures and services to faculty, employees, and students.

The fair is part of the inaugural Medicine Week, which runs from July 21 to 25. Today’s activity featured simultaneous lectures on thyroid disorder, iodine deficiency, and prostate and kidney issues.

Complementary services in partnership with DOH and other agencies followed the lectures, including goiter screening, thyroid ultrasound, and HIV, blood, bone densitometry, and ankle-brachial index testing, among others. Participants also received free vitamins, medications, and health product samples.

The SoM Medicine Week opened on July 21 with a health outreach to SoM’s partner community in Abilan, Buenavista, serving 80 Gawad Kalinga members. It will culminate on July 25, with the formal introduction of the first and only medical school in Caraga, along with its faculty and pioneer batch of Doctor of Medicine Program.

SoM research and innovation agenda, called THRIVE, will also be officially launched at the same event on Friday, which will be streamed live on the university’s official Facebook page. The Medicine Week aligns with CSU’s commitment to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
