Caraga State University (CSU) is once again stepping forward as a catalyst for sustainable regional development by collaborating with Dr. Anthony B. Halog, a Balik Scientist and renowned international expert in sustainability science and circular economy. This landmark initiative is set to anchor a new paradigm of innovation in Caraga, one that advances environmental stewardship, industrial resilience, and community transformation.

This strategic collaboration aims to integrate circular economy principles across sectors in the region by applying research, knowledge exchange, and practical innovations. By leveraging scientific tools such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), the partnership will help identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact and promote resource efficiency in agriculture, forestry, local industries, and even extractive sectors. The approach reinforces CSU’s vision of aligning regional growth with sustainable, data-informed strategies.

Beyond technical capacity-building, the initiative seeks to promote institutional ecosystems that champion circular principles at scale. Grounded in CSU’s science-based mission and community-engaged approaches, the program is expected to yield scalable models that contribute to national and global sustainability goals, particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

As CSU continues to elevate its role in knowledge-driven development, this partnership reaffirms its position as a regional thought leader, bridging science, policy, and practice to shape a future where prosperity and planetary health go hand in hand. (Life on Land).
