OUTCOME-BASED EDUCATION
Outcome-based education (OBE) is an approach that focuses and organizes the educational system around what is essential for all learners to know, value, and be able to do to achieve a desired level of outcome (CHED Handbook). It is a student-centered, result-oriented approach to learning that focuses on clearly defining and achieving specific learning outcomes .Rather than emphasizing traditional teaching methods, OBE prioritizes the development of graduates who possess not only a strong theoretical foundation in their field of study but also the ability to apply their knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios. This approach ensures that students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills that are essential for professional success and lifelong learning. By aligning curriculum design, instructional strategies, and assessment methods with desired learning outcomes, OBE fosters a holistic educational experience that prepares students to meet industry demands, adapt to changing environments, and contribute meaningfully to society.
OBE FRAMEWORK
This framework represents the alignment of Caraga State University’s (CSU) Vision, Mission, and Quality Policy with various educational outcomes, ensuring that students develop the necessary competencies to meet institutional and stakeholder expectations. This framework ensures that CSU’s educational system remains stakeholder-responsive, outcome-driven, and continuously improving.
