Caraga State University’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CSU-DRRMO) carried out a bomb drill and exercise on November 12, the first implementation in an academe in Caraga Region.

CSU coordinated with the region’s Philippine National Police- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (PNP-EOD), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) as evaluators to familiarize the university Golden Paddlers and community with the proper procedures to follow during bomb threats or explosions, thereby minimizing panic, preventing injury, and protecting lives and property. The simulation was done at the Kinaadman grounds, starting at 3:00 PM.

The orientation component of the activity equipped participants with knowledge about identifying potential threats, proper communication and reporting protocols, and coordinated evacuation procedures. The actual drill then served as a simulation exercise to test the effectiveness of the University’s Emergency Response Plan, assess the readiness of designated response teams, and identify areas for improvement in coordination, communication, and execution.

Through this proactive initiative, Caraga State University demonstrates its commitment to fostering a safe and resilient academic environment, aligned with national safety standards, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) framework, and the institution’s mission to uphold the welfare and security of its constituents.

The university has also conducted its fire and earthquake drill this year, completing the list of essential emergency preparedness activities.
