Caraga State University (CSU), through the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS), achieved a historic milestone on September 8, 2026, receiving official notification that all three of its undergraduate computing programs were accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of the PCS Information and Computing Accreditation Board (PICAB). With this accreditation, CSU is now the first HEI in Caraga Region, the fourth HEI in Mindanao, and one of the 18 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) nationwide to earn PICAB recognition.
CSU programs granted PICAB accreditation include Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS), and the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT). The accreditation is part of the Global Recognition and Quality Excellence Roadmap outlined in the State of the University Address made by CSU President Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil in 2025.
The journey of CCIS toward PICAB and international accreditation commenced in December 2024 following an initial on-site orientation. To ensure institutional readiness for the accreditation evaluation, the college undertook comprehensive preparation, including targeted writeshops, benchmarking activity to PICAB accredited HEI, and specialized training programs.
PICAB was formed by the Philippine Computer Society (PCS), the country’s longest-standing professional association of ICT professionals, in cooperation with the Computing Society of the Philippines (CSP), Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE) Foundation, and Philippine Software Industry Association (PSIA).
PICAB accreditation recognizes the commitment of CCIS to academic excellence, continuous quality improvement, and the preparation of graduates for the evolving demands of the computing and information technology professions.
This achievement stands as a testament to the College of Computing and Information Sciences’ unwavering commitment to quality education and to its mission of preparing globally competitive Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology professionals.
