Caraga State University (CSU), through the College of Engineering and Geosciences (CEGS), reached a new benchmark in academic excellence as the Professional Regulatory Board of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (PRBABE) recommended the issuance of a Certificate of Compliance for its Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) program on May 20, 2026.

The recommendation followed a comprehensive physical inspection and monitoring visit by the PRBABE, held at the HERO Learning Commons Board Room in coordination with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Region XIII.

Prior to the formal evaluation, the inspection board, composed of Hon. Sherwin O. Valdez, Hon. Caesar Joventino M. Tado, Hon. Ireneo C. Agulto, together with former PRBABE Chairman and current consultant Engr. Ariodear C. Rico and representatives of PRC Region XIII paid a courtesy call on the Office of the University President. They were warmly received by Engr. Alexander T. Demetillo, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Dr. Vicente A. Pitogo, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The inspection board evaluated the BSABE program against the stringent requirements of Republic Act No. 10915 or the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Act of 2016 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). The visit also focused on ensuring that CSU’s facilities, faculty development plans, curriculum design, and institutional research initiatives remain at the forefront of the industry.

Some of the highlights of the evaluation included receiving critical regulatory directives on integrating the PRC’s Table of Specifications (TOS) and CHED’s Memorandum Orders (CMO) to maximize board exam performance and identifying mandatory ABE pathways within Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to boost graduate employment.

The recommendation for the Certificate of Compliance marks CSU as a premier institution for ABE education in Region XIII. As part of this continuing commitment, CSU has pledged to deliver an ABE Education Competitiveness Roadmap within the next three months.
