Caraga State University (CSU) and the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Project “Development of an AI-Driven i-Tour IMS: A Smart Integrated Tourism Information Management System for Enhancing Tourism Governance and Service Delivery in the Caraga Region.” today, June 30, 2026, in the CSU Board Room of the HERO Learning Commons.

The Integrated Tourism Information Management System (iTour IMS), led by Ms. Jenelyn R. Asis, is a smart digital platform to be developed by Caraga State University to transform tourism management and enhance visitor experiences in the Caraga Region. This is a 2-year project funded by the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) through its Innovation Grants Program.

The platform provides travelers with easy access to verified tourism information, accredited establishments, attractions, events, transportation details, and destination guides-all in one place. It also features e-Journey Maps, allowing tourists to digitally track and visualize all the destinations they have visited, creating a personalized travel history. In addition, travelers can create Do-It-Yourself (DIY) itineraries tailored to their interests, preferred activities, available time, and budget, making trip planning more convenient and personalized. Visitors can also rate destinations and share feedback to help improve tourism services.

For tourism stakeholders, iTour IMS will streamline data collection, visitor monitoring, reporting, and decision-making. This will empower government agencies and local tourism offices with accurate, real-time information, enabling more efficient, data-driven, and sustainable tourism governance.

The ceremony was graced by University President, Dr. Rolyn C. Daguil, DOT Regional Director Ivonne B. Dumadag, Assistant Regional Director Tiara Julia M. Santos, and Ms. Cheryl D. Ojil, the project DOT Focal Person. Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DepDev) Regional Director Gemima A. Olam was also present, along with representatives from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Caraga: Ms. Amor M. Natividad, Ms. Shenna Ace C. Bago, and Ms. Sherwin H. Credo.

Together, this partnership will take a meaningful step toward building a smarter, more connected, and data-driven tourism ecosystem for Caraga.
