MAKATI CITY, Philippines—Caraga State University (CSU) strengthened its role in the advancement of teacher education in the country through formalizing its participation in the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Teacher Education Council (TEC) for the establishment of the Teacher Education Excellence Center (TEEC) on March 9, 2026.
CSU is one of the six Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the country to serve as a program implementer and regional hub for the initiative, representing Eastern Mindanao. The university joins a distinguished group of institutions, including the Philippine Normal University-Manila, University of the Philippines-Los Baños, University of San Carlos, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, and Cotabato State University.
The event also marked the signing of the Joint Memorandum Circular between TEC and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to officially launch the TEEC initiative and secure government funding for its implementation this year.
As a TEEC hub, CSU is expected to leverage its strong academic programs, research capacity, and regional engagement to support the professional growth of educators across Eastern Mindanao. The university will play a key role in producing research-driven solutions to inform policy decisions, improve teaching processes, and ultimately enhance learning outcomes across the country.
In detail, CSU shall help pilot innovative approaches and targeted programs in teacher training for all educators, with priority given to multigrade learners, child development workers, para-teachers, and pre-service student tutors.
With its participation in the TEEC initiative, CSU and its College of Education position themselves as leaders in shaping the future of Philippine education through quality teacher education, research, and innovation. Bugsay, CSU!
