Caraga State University (CSU), through the Department of Physics of the College of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (CMNS), selected and sent a four-member delegation to participate in the TNU Astronomy Summer School (TASS) 2026, an international academic program on astronomy to be held from July 6–17, 2026, in Vietnam. The program will be conducted in two locations, with Week 1 at Tay Nguyen University in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, and Week 2 at Dong A University in Da Nang City.
Representing the Department of Physics are Mr. Louie Jay D. Marimon, a 4th Year BS Physics Student, and Mr. Resthee Jazo Prades, a 3rd Year BS Physics Student. Accompanying them are Ms. Christia Marie C. Bacus, the Laboratory Technician, Physics Laboratory In-Charge, and the Department Head, Department of Physics (Faculty-in-Charge), Ms. Angeline M. Atacador.
Hosted by Tay Nguyen University and Dong A University, the TNU Astronomy Summer School is an international learning program that brings together students, educators, and researchers from various institutions to explore optical astronomy. Through lectures, laboratory sessions, telescope observations, and collaborative research activities, participants will develop practical skills in astronomical observation and data analysis while working alongside peers and experts from various countries.
In addition to scientific training, the summer school emphasizes developing essential professional skills, including scientific writing, research ethics, information literacy, and effective communication. Participants will work in teams to complete research projects and present their outputs at the culmination of the program, providing them with valuable experience in international academic collaboration.
