In celebration of this year’s World Environment Day, the Manawari Class of 2026 of Caraga State University (CSU) participated in a two-day environmental activity from June 4-5, 2026. The event featured a Tree Planting and Tree Nurturing Activity at the CSU Carbon Sink Enhancement Program in Basag, and the 2nd Quarter Adopt-an-Estero Cleanup Drive at Ampayon Creek.
These activities aim to support ecosystem restoration, improve environmental quality, and encourage Golden Paddlers’ responsible stewardship of natural resources.
A total of 1,900 seedlings were planted, comprising native and fruit-bearing species such as Kupang, Ipil, Akleng Parang, Lanutan, and Makopa. Meanwhile, at Ampayon Creek, participating graduating students collected 132.35 kilograms of waste, including 15 kilograms of segregated plastic materials.
This annual environmental initiative, organized by the CSU Pollution Control and Environmental Management Office (PCEMO) and the CSU Main – Graduating Student Council, is a required activity for all graduating students. Launched in 2024, the CSU Carbon Sink Enhancement Program had already planted around 2,532 trees, including Sagimsim, Lipote, Lanutan, and Kalantas.
