Caraga State University (CSU) makes an impressive debut in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, ranking as the 5th best university in the country and leading the 3rd spot in the 601-800th global bracket. Remarkably, CSU is the only newcomer to break into the national Top 10 on its first application for assessment.

The THE Impact Rankings is one of the world’s most prestigious benchmarks for evaluating university excellence, impact on society, stewardship, and teaching beyond traditional academic performance. The 2025 ranking covered 2,526 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from 130 countries based on their progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Joining the group of HEIs previously recognized in global rankings, CSU is in third place under the 601–800th global bracket, along with institutions such as Ifugao State University, Leyte Normal University, Mariano Marcos State University, Saint Louis University, and the University of Santo Tomas.

The university has demonstrated excellent performance in its first-ever assessment, showing high efforts in the following Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1: No Poverty (Rank 1st in the Philippines and 44th in the world out of 1,267 institutions)

SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being (Rank 5th in the Philippines and 601- 800th in the world out of 1,975 institutions)

SDG 4: Quality Education (Rank 3rd in the Philippines and 601- 800th in the world out of 1,975 institutions)

SDG 5: Gender Equality (Rank 6th in the Philippines and 601- 800th in the world out of 1,975 institutions)

SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals (Rank 3rd in the Philippines and 401- 600th in the world out of 1,975 institutions)

Locally, CSU also cemented its position as the top university in Mindanao and Caraga based on the said ranking, leaping for its intensified efforts and contribution to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as integrated into its institutional strategies and research priorities.

The rapid rise in the Impact Ranking reflects the university’s remarkable progress and solidifies its reputation as a rising global institution, built on years of strategic growth, a deep commitment to innovation, and strong alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) supported by the current Chair of the CSU-Board of Regents and the newly-appointed Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis.
