Caraga State University (CSU) recently welcomed the evaluation team from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga for the Onsite Visit and Evaluation for the Center of Excellence (COE) application of the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries (CAA). From June 15-17, 2026, CHED Caraga meticulously reviewed CSU’s application for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Crop Protection (BSA-CROPPROT) program at the auditorium of the HERO Learning Commons.
The designation as a Center of Excellence (COE) by the CHED is one of the highest honors a higher education institution can receive. Once evaluated and approved, a specific academic program within a university is formally recognized as a national leader and benchmark of top-tier quality in that field.
University President Dr. Rolyn C Daguil, the Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Vicente A. Pitogo, and CAA’s College Dean Dr. Elizabeth P. Parac personally welcomed the technical evaluators and experts, Dr. Rosana Mula and Dr. Josephine Migalbin. Accompanying them were the representatives of the Office of Programs and Standards Development (OPSD), Ms. Sheryl Tarrayo, Ms. Maria Katrina Cosico, and Mr. Ever Joy G. Rabadan, MAEM, MSc., Education Supervisor for Agriculture and Related Sciences of CHED Caraga.
During the visit, CSU presented its comprehensive compliance with the Center of Excellence (COE) standards and criteria. The evaluation spanned critical institutional pillars, including the excellence of the curriculum and instruction, cutting-edge research outputs, impactful community extension services, faculty qualifications, student support systems, advanced facilities, and long-term institutional outcomes.
