
The Caraga State University – Gender and Development (GAD) Program and Training Development Unit successfully conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) on March 12–13, 2026, as part of the university’s International Women’s Month Celebration. The activity aimed to strengthen gender awareness and promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment within the university community.
The training was conducted in two batches. The first batch was attended by newly hired personnel of Caraga State University, while the second batch was participated in by security personnel and general services personnel. The activity sought to enhance participants’ understanding of gender and development principles and highlight the importance of promoting gender equality and gender responsiveness in the workplace.



The sessions covered key topics including Basic GAD Concepts, Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act, and SOGIESC and the Law (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics). These discussions were facilitated by invited speakers from the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) – Caraga: Atty. Joyce Ann P. Adlawan-Nollora, Attorney IV of the Legal Division, and Ms. Doreen Marielle N. Rosales, Information Officer II.
In addition, Ms. Marjorie L. Escartin, Focal Person of the GAD Program and Training Development Unit, presented the Caraga State University Safe Spaces Code, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering a gender-responsive and harassment-free environment for all members of the CSU community.
Through initiatives such as this training, Caraga State University continues to strengthen its commitment to gender equality, respect for diversity, and the promotion of safe and inclusive spaces for everyone in the university.
