Caraga State University has now reached its 1,000th Scopus-indexed publication, marking a rapid and upward trajectory in the global research landscape and institutional visibility. This huge milestone equally signifies the university’s expanding research excellence achieved through strategic, impact-driven initiatives.

This achievement is also recognized by the GHF Research Award, published on March 11, 2025.

Based on Scopus data, the number summarizes the contributions of 1,193 faculty members and students. The university’s publications span multiple disciplines, with Computer Science leading the list with 349. This is followed by Multidisciplinary Research (207 publications),  Environmental Science (164 publications), Social Sciences (141 publications), Agricultural and Biological Sciences (139 publications), and Engineering (135 publications).

In 2025, the university also achieved an impressive feat by publishing 300 papers in a single year, capping a five-year upward trajectory. After posting 81 Scopus-indexed articles in 2024 and 70 in 2022, CSU’s research output steadily increased to 105 in 2023 and 183 in 2024, therefore culminating in a record.

Moving forward

Reaching this milestone strengthens the university’s global research standing. Since Scopus bibliometric data are key indicators used in major global rankings such as the Times Higher Education and QS World rankings, the number opens doors for international visibility, citation impact, and research productivity.

This achievement is attributed to the impact-driven, collaborative research efforts of the university’s faculty-researchers and Golden Paddlers, strengthened by the strategic support and oversight of the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, Innovation, and Extension. This rapidly expanding research culture across colleges, research centers, and graduate programs reflects CSU’s shared vision of advancing science, technology, and innovation for regional and national development.

Congratulations, our CSU community. Bugsay!
