Caraga State University (CSU), through the University Disaster Management Committee (UDMC), attended the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) 2026 Kick-off Ceremony hosted by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga Region at the Event Center of SM City Butuan on July 1, 2026. CSU joined the ceremony as a recognized new member of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).

The kick-off ceremony commenced with an Eucharistic Mass with Rev. Fr. (PMaj) Rogen L. Leyson from the Regional Pastoral Office of Police Regional Office 13, presiding. This year’s theme is “Naghahanda at Kumikilos Tungo sa Panatag na Bagong Pilipinas.”

A key highlight of the event was an interactive presentation of the four thematic pillars of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM): Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Response, and Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery. The ceremony also featured engaging exhibit booths and static displays from various member agencies, showcasing the essential tools, response equipment, and resources deployed during critical emergency and disaster operations.

Attending the kickoff ceremony were members of the RDRRMC, comprising local government units, academic institutions, agencies, partner stakeholders, and students. The attendance of CSU-UDMC members at the ceremony marked CSU’s first attendance as a new member of the RDRRMC and its role as the academe representative in the Caraga region.
