The recently released 2025 SCImago Institutions Rankings place Caraga State University (CSU) at the 15th spot and in the third-best quartile, along with other higher education institutions (HEIs) in the country.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) evaluate over 5,000 research institutions worldwide using data on research performance, innovation, and societal impact. They combine indicators such as high-impact publications, patent citations, and web visibility to provide a balanced view of institutional influence. This year’s assessment included research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%). SIR is vital for academic benchmarking, research planning, and demonstrating real-world contributions to society and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
CSU’s placement in the ranking signifies its strong and strategic research output, as only 15 HEIs from the country are included in SIR’s overall ranking this year. It now joins leading universities such as the University of the Philippines – Diliman, De La Salle University, and Ateneo de Manila University. See the full list here: http://bit.ly/40iXkCr.
In line with its intensive research initiatives, CSU also reached its all-time high in Scopus publications, totaling 700—an increase of 100 in just five months since the January 2025 report. The university also clinched 5th place in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings and leads the 3rd spot within the 601–800 bracket in the Philippines.
Evidently, the university’s research community is operating at an unprecedented level of productivity and impact, marking it their most historic era yet.
Congratulations to our esteemed professor-researchers whose diligence and excellence have led to this significant accomplishment. Your work brings pride to the university. Bugsay!
