Caraga State University is still among the top-ranked Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Philippines per EduRank, maintaining its dominance in Butuan and Caraga and ranking 45th nationwide, an improvement from its previous standing.

CSU, being 7,091st globally, has also recorded strong rankings in science and technology fields. Among identified HEIs in the Philippines, the university ranks 12th out of 63 in Engineering, 16th out of 69 in Environmental Science, 18th out of 68 in Computer Science, 19th out of 68 in Biology, and 17th out of 61 in Physics, among other notable fields. This highlights the strengths in programs that support sustainable development and technological advancement.

The EduRank rankings are primarily driven by the research performance of HEIs worldwide, with significant weight given to publications and citations, as well as non-academic reputation and notable alumni. Just this year, the university received its 1000th Scopus-indexed publication and was recognized by the GHF Research Award. In 2005, CSU also set an all-time high of 300 publications in a year. The quality and visibility of studies conducted by faculty, staff, and students significantly contribute to EduRank’s assessment.

These results are based on their website as of March 21, 2026.

Beyond EduRank, CSU has also gained recognition in its debut participations in other prestigious global rankings. In the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, CSU ranked 5th in the Philippines, leading the 601-800 glocal bracket for its contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. Later that year, CSU also demonstrated competitiveness by ranking 18th in the Philippines in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, securing a spot in the 1401-1500 bracket in Asia.

The university’s upward trajectory is poised to enhance its visibility and impact in other global rankings. CSU hopes to return to THE and QS rankings, building on its 2025 position. However, beyond all these recognitions, the bulk of the vision remains dedicated to the promise of quality education, services, and support for its Golden Paddlers, stakeholders, and beneficiaries. The university believes in the collective pursuit of excellence and the tangible impacts within its bounds, extended to the communities it serves.
