GAD extends processes, responsibilities for safe, inclusive campus to student leaders

Following the celebration of the Department of Budget and Management’s (DBM) Open Government Week, the university, through the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, held an orientation on the CSU Safe Space Code for student leaders to properly streamline their processes as frontliners of student welfare and campus discipline.

Key discussions focused on the provisions of the CSU Safe Space Code, emphasizing acceptable conduct within the university, students’ rights and responsibilities, and mechanisms for reporting and addressing concerns. The role and processes of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI) were also presented, ensuring student leaders are informed of proper procedures in handling related issues.

The open forum provided an avenue for student leaders to clarify concerns, deepen their understanding of the policy, and strengthen their capacity as advocates to better serve Golden Paddlers by promoting safe spaces and addressing student welfare concerns.

Following the orientation, the students are expected to strengthen their mechanisms for addressing and advocating for student welfare concerns, while institutionalizing this document to better serve the student body and ensure a more accessible, inclusive process for all.

The university’s participation in the DBM’s Open Government Week shows its commitment to further transparency and responsive governance by empowering student leaders to become active partners in promoting accountable campus practices.
