Caraga State University, through the Department of Biology, collaborates with Hokkaido University (Japan) for a Lecture-Workshop on Marine Invertebrates Systematics and Taxonomy Methods on March 15, 2024. The primary objective of this activity was to introduce various approaches to the taxonomic studies of Phylum Nemertea, Order Polycladida, and Order Isopoda, with faculty and PhD students from Hokkaido University serving as resource persons. Several participants from different SUCs, NGAs, and MS/BS Biology students actively participated in the lecture-workshop.
Corraine P. Esparagoza a BS Biology fourth year student of the College of Arts and and Sciences, Caraga State University has been given the Best Presentation Award in Korea for her paper “Antimicrobial, Characterization, Phytochemical analysis and Cytotoxic Level of Chloroform, Acetone and Hexane Leaf Extracts of Paspalumconjugatum (Sour Paspalum)."
Corraine delivered her paper in Jeju, South Korean during the Second International Conference on Pharma Sciences and Biotechnology (ICPSB 2018) last January 18-20, 2018.
The Department of Biology spearheaded by Dr. Leila Ombat conducted a 4-day training course to the Department of Education teachers last November 22-25, 2017 in Caraga State University. Fifty Science teachers in the high school and elementary participated the training.The purpose of the training was to build the capability of the teachers on practical work approach in teaching science thru the conduct of field and laboratory work. This was also done to achieve the goals of performance or outcomes-based education for the participants in their research activity.
Ms. Rowena A. Japitana of the Department of Biology, College of Arts and Sciences attended an International Summer School program on Spatially-Explicit Modelling of Ecological Systems at the Center for Computational and Theoretical Biology in University of Würzburg, Germany on May 8-12, 2017. The program was funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)and was attended by selected participants from Asia and Europe.
