Caraga State University through the Planning and Development Office (OPD) conducted a workshop on Crafting the Pollution Control and Environmental Management Policies on November 8-9, 2022 at the CSU Administration building Conference Room. The activity was conducted as part of the University’s commitment to its Environmental Management Plan (EMP) stipulated in the Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) given by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
The workshop was headed by the Office of Planning and Development (OPD) director, Dr. Michelle V. Japitana and the Pollution Control Core Team (PCCT) headed by Dr. Marlon V. Elvira. Dr. Japitana presented the salient features of Land Use Development and Infrastructure Plan (LUDIP) of CSU highlighting development plans related to environmental management. On the other hand, Dr. Elvira presented CSU’s Environmental Impact Statement and conditions in ECC that need to be addressed.
Dr. Nilo H. Calomot, a private consultant, facilitated the activity by presenting the regulatory laws needed for compliance. Identification of objectives and specified policy per respective environmental aspect harmonized with the EMP stipulated in the ECC was drafted.
The Pollution Control Core Team was also reconstituted for 2023 issuance of designation. The functions of the team were presented to clarify functions in delivering the university commitments and regular submission of self-monitoring reports to the EMB on a regular basis.-JDApdohan/pico
