The Caraga State University furthers its plans for the realization of the School of Medicine as it formalized a pioneering partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Abilan and Gawad Kalinga-Abilan (GK Abilan) through the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last, October 19, 2023. The momentous event signifies a collaborative effort to provide essential medical and clinical training for the university's School of Medicine program through community engagement.

Dr. Teresita Brion, School of Medicine’s Dean, expressed her gratitude to all attendees for their participation in this momentous occasion. CSU’s Board of Regents (BOR) member and Gawad Kalinga advocate, Hon. Victor Emmanuel “Butch” A. Ozarraga, also emphasized the crucial role of the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance healthcare accessibility not only in the Caraga Region but also in the underserved areas nearby.

University President Rolyn C. Daguil echoed the sentiment, underscoring the institution's unwavering dedication to delivering an exemplary medical program that will leave a positive and enduring impact on the community. Highlighting GK Abilan as a pilot community, President Daguil expressed the university's aspiration to extend its services to other communities in the future, affirming its commitment to broader community well-being.

The MOA signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Gawad Kalinga local volunteers, GK Kapitbahayan, key university officials, and faculty members of the School of Medicine, all serving as witnesses to this significant collaboration. The program concluded with a facility tour within the village, demonstrating the tangible impact this partnership would have on the local community.
